A new study published in the peer-reviewed journal Children underscores the critical benefits of early therapeutic intervention for young children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The research, released on 6 January 2023, examined whether starting treatment at younger ages leads to better outcomes in reducing core autistic symptoms and improving speech-language skills. 
The study titled “Importance of Early Intervention in Reducing Autistic Symptoms and Speech–Language Deficits in Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder” involved 29 children aged between 36 and 60 months who underwent one year of integrative therapy. Researchers grouped participants into two age ranges — 36–47 months and 48–60 months — to compare results of early versus slightly later intervention. 
Key Findings
• Younger children (3- to 4-year-olds) showed a significantly greater reduction in autism symptoms than older peers after one year of therapy. 
• Improvements were particularly notable in areas such as repetitive behaviors, social interaction, and social communication. 
• Both groups experienced progress overall, but older children did not show as strong gains in social communication skills.
